A Place In My Heart                  


Each of us has a secret place
Somewhere deep within,
A place where we go to get away,
To think things through,
To be alone, to be ourselves.

This special place, where we keep
All of our deepest feelings,
Becomes a storehouse of all our hopes,
Of all our needs, of all our dreams,
All our unspoken fears.
It holds the essence of who we are
And what we want to be.

But now and then, someone comes along
And discovers a way into that place,
A place we thought was ours alone.
And we allow that person to see,
To feel, and to share....
All the secrets, all the uncertainty,
And all the emotion we've stored up there.

That person adds new perspective
to our hidden realm,
Then quietly settles down
In his or her own corner of our special place,
Where a part of them will live forever...

That person remains forever in our life.
Sometimes physically close....sometimes not,
But, always emotionally near.
For that person has touched our soul,
And now we can never, ever be the same.

You are the person who touched my heart....
I thank you for touching my life,
For accepting me, for loving me,
for caring for me.

Forever you will remain,
A memory within my heart
Eternally, a part of me,
Tucked safely away, hidden within,
A place in my heart
